Andrew Rowney
Since being a young child I always wanted to work as a primary school teacher. I qualified as a teacher in 2005 and worked at my first school, Lower Wortley Primary, for the next 16 years progressing to the role of Assistant Headteacher. During my time at Lower Wortley I led by example, inspiring those around me and forging positive relationships with staff, pupils and families.
Moving to Newlaithes, in the role of Deputy Headteacher, in September 2021 was an exciting challenge and I look forward to supporting Mrs Blacoe in driving the school forwards. I am currently leading on the Quality of Education, overseeing the development of our curriculum and supporting subject leaders in their own development. I am also the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
In my own time, I enjoy playing and watching most sports and help coach my son's rugby and cricket teams. I also help out backstage at a local amateur dramatic group my daughter attends.
